This past weekend we took a long weekend to fly up to Washington to visit Brianne’s family and to attend her friend, Sydney’s wedding. The wedding was in Oregon, but we found the cheapest flight going to Spokane, WA, so we decided to fly there since Brianne’s sister lives there and could pick us up.
Our trip did not start off all that great. We arrived at the airport in Houston at around 2:30pm for our 4:00pm flight. We took off for Salt Lake City, our only stop on the flight, but then about 15-20 minutes into the flight they turned around and landed us back in Houston because of a faulty fuel gauge. They tried to fix it for a while before canceling the flight. So then we had to go back to the ticket counter and have them try and find us another way. The best thing they found was a flight from Houston to Seattle at 11:00pm that arrived in Seattle at 2:20am, then a flight from Seattle to Spokane at 7:00am that arrived at 7:55am. So we spent roughly 4 to 5 hours in both the Houston and Seattle airports. One good about this was we got first class seats to Seattle, which Brianne took advantage comfy seats to sleep in and I accepted every free thing offered to me during the flight. So we were suppose to be at Brianne’s parents house at 10:30pm on Thursday, but instead we got there at 10:30am on Friday.
The rest of the trip was great though. We drove to Oregon Saturday morning, which was a 5 hour drive, for the wedding that afternoon and the reception that evening. We stayed in the hotel with all the other wedding guest before heading back to Pasco Sunday morning. Interesting note from Oregon, you aren’t allowed to pump your own gas, I’m dumbfounded by this rule. We stopped for some gas and were in a hurry so I just did what I usually do, pull up, put my card in and start pumping. I was just about to start pumping when the attendant informed me of this rule… whatever. The wedding was very nice and the drive was pretty.
After we got back from the wedding, Brianne’s parents took us out in the boat on the Columbia River which runs right in front of their house. We rode around for a while then Brianne’s dad asked if we wanted to do some fishing, which I did. We caught some small mouth bass, Brianne’s dad doing much better then I did before we headed home and dinner.
Our flight back home went ok, and we are glad to be home so we can rest and catch up on some lost sleep over the past few days.
Welcome to our website! This is our little place for posting what is going on in our lives and to keep in touch with our friends. We met on August 4, 2006 and live in Houston, Texas and enjoy traveling the world together. On October 4, 2008 we got married in Seattle, Washington in a wonderful ceremony in front of our family and friends. Please come back and see what's happening!
